Installation of EPDM Edge Trims

Installation our EPDM trims is an easy task for the accomplished DIY-er. Below we outline the various steps required to fit EPDM Edge trims. You can also learn more about how to fit EPDM edge trims using our easy to follow installation videos.

Step 1

External corners come with 2 removable tabs.

Step 2

Neatly abut trims.

Step 3

If Edge Trim meets Edge Trim then both tabs need to be removed carefully using a pair of pliers. If Edge Trim meets Gutter Trim then only one tab needs to be removed.

Step 4

Pushing on the corner gently, secure in place using the supplied poly nails or use our corner adhesive.

Step 1

Install a 2" x 1" batten to the roof perimeter, level with roof deck.

Step 2

Once the membrane is installed, push down on the edge trim.

Step 3

Fix in place using the supplied polypins.

Step 4

Trim any excess rubber with a sharp blade.

Step 5

Please allow 5mm gap between trims for expansion and contraction.

Step 1

Install a 2" x 1" batten to the roof perimeter , level with roof deck.

Step 2

Install the base plate as shown, 5mm below the deck using plain nails.

Step 3

Adhere membrane and dress over the base plate.

Step 4

Pull rubber taut and install top plate as shown, secured with polynails. Please allow a 5mm gap between trims for expansion and contraction.

Step 5

Trim any excess rubber with a sharp blade.

Step 1

Thoroughly clean the wall, chase and rubber.

Step 2

Apply a thin coat of contact adhesive to the rubber and the wall .

Step 3

Once touch dry, starting at the bottom, carefully mate the surfaces together. Smooth by hand and silicone roller.

Step 4

Trim membrane.

Step 5

Position a piece of 9” QuickSeam Formflash or a Detail Kit as shown and mark the perimeter, allowing an extra 1 cm.

Step 6

Apply Quick Prime plus to the marked area using a Quick Scrubber pad and handle, allow primer to dry.

Step 7

Peel back a section of backing paper and, starting from the top, slowly work downwards as shown.

Step 1

Apply a gentle heat source to the corner if needed.

Step 9

Thoroughly roller with Silicone and Penny Rollers.

Step 10

Insert wall trim into chase and secure at 600mm centres with the supplied fixings. Rawplugs are not needed if a 5.5mm masonry drill bit is used.

Step 11

Thoroughly seal chase with Wall Mastic .
