My roof has some chalky marks on it, is this ok?
These marks are quite normal and will disappear after weathering. It is just excess mica dust used in the manufacturing process.
-
What is Firestone RubberCover EPDM membrane?
Firestone RubberCover EPDM is a 100% cured single-ply roofing membrane made of a synthetic rubber Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Terpolymer. Since 1980, more than 1,000 million m² of Firestone EPDM membranes have been successfully installed on commercial, industrial and residential roofs worldwide.
-
How long will Firestone RubberCover EPDM membrane last?
Firestone RubberCover EPDM membranes offer unmatched resistance to UV radiation, ozone, alkali rains and high or low temperatures. Recent studies show that the membrane has a life expectancy up to more than 50 years, even when exposed to sunlight.
-
Which substrates are suitable for Firestone RubberCover EPDM?
Compatible substrates are wood, PIR and PUR insulation, bitumen, concrete, masonry, aluminium, zinc and lead. Firestone RubberCover EPDM can overlay virtually any old roof provided the roof decking is sound . Water based adhesive is used on timber substrates, contact adhesive is used on other surfaces.
-
Can Firestone RubberCover EPDM membrane be adhered to a wet surface?
Water based adhesive can be applied to slightly damp timber substrates. Contact adhesive will only work on dry surfaces.
-
Is the use of Firestone RubberCover Water Based Adhesive weather dependent?
Yes, the minimum temperature required for application of RubberCover Water Based Adhesive is +5°C and the maximum humidity is 80%. It should not be adhered if frost is forecast within the following 24 hours.
-
What is the difference between 045 and 060?
045 is the thickness of rubber in inches and equates to 1.14mm - 1.20mm.
060 equates to 1.52mm - 1.60mm.
045 membrane is a bit easier to work with as it is a bit more flexible whereas the 060 membrane covers a bit more substrate imperfections.
-
Is one-sided application of Firestone RubberCover Water Based Adhesive sufficient?
Yes. The water based adhesive should be applied to the timber deck with a 9" roller handle and sleeve. Contact adhesive is applied thinly to both membrane and substrate, allowed to dry completely, then mated together.
-
What is the coverage rate of Firestone RubberCover Water Based Adhesive?
The coverage rate is 4m2 per 1 litre (one -side).
-
Are specific tools required for installation?
Only basic hand tools are needed to install the membrane.
